Installing a toilet is a pretty straightforward process, but it's also one of the most important things you can do for your home. A clogged toilet is no joke, and if you've ever had to deal with one in your home, you know how frustrating it can be.
We'll walk you through the step-by-step process of installing your new toilet so you can rest assured that it will be done correctly—and that there won't be any issues down the line.
1. Turn off the water supply to your toilet by turning off the valve on the wall behind it.
2. Let all of the water drain from the tank and bowl until no more comes out when you flush.
3. Using channel locks or a wrench disconnect the water supply from the back of the toilet.
4. Remove the old toilet by unscrewing the bolts that secure it to the floor. You may need an adjustable wrench for this step.
5. Remove the old wax seal from where you just pulled up the toilet and install a new one.
6. Unwrap your new toilet and place it over the hole in your bathroom floor where your old toilet was removed.
7. Using the nuts which you just removed from the toilet tighten the new toilet down.
